MECHANICAL SERVICES CAD DRAFTING

August 1998 – December 2001

Briggs & Forrester Plumbing Services, London Docklands.

Conversion of large grade 1 listed warehouse building into luxury flats. The job involved the initial drafting of extraction and ventilation ducting, drainage and water supplies, the notable details of which are that no ducting or piping is allowed to pass through the outside walls and that the complex will be supplied with pressurised cold water. Aside from the main drafting, updating and co-ordination of drawings, I took on other site duties such as the running of a drawing issue database and the production of a set of site progress reports covering drawings, information, personnel and plant. Drawings on AutoCAD 14 and schedules on Microsoft Access.

STONE CLADDING & HARD LANDSCAPING

March 1998 – August 1998

Satzuma Ltd., Portslade & Scanmoor Ltd., Wembley, Middx.

Design & Scheduling of paving and cladding for Churchill Square shopping centre project. Liaising with site personnel, surveying, producing drawings for the manufacturer - shop tickets. Materials included granite and yorkstone. All drawings and schedules produced on site using AutoCAD R14 and Microsoft Excel respectively.

BUILDING SERVICES CAD DRAFTING

August 1993 - March 1998

Various Contracts PAYE & Self Employed. Central London

Contract Drafting in Greater London area, mainly office refurbishment work. Duties including surveying and on-site drafting, liaising with clients, contractors and design staff. All types of detailing, floors and ceilings, ducting, piping and wiring, partitions and space planning. Production of schedules of works and order quantity information. Some supervisory and office management duties where necessary. Projects drawn in AutoCAD R12-R14 with some Microsoft Access database involvement.

IMPLEMENTATION OF CAD for DESIGN & BUILD

March 1991 - June 1993

Morgan Lovell Design & Build Ltd. London W1

Two year contract to implement AutoCAD in a Design & Build company. The job included specifying and installing the system. Teaching the drawing office staff on a 1:1 basis and the admin. staff as a group. Once in place, I was retained on a general basis as a draftsman and to look after the computing side, which included the creation of a database for the contracts managers.

COMPUTER FIELD SERVICE and DIGITAL HARDWARE DESIGN

July 1987 - September 1990

SDL Computers Ltd. West Sussex.

Initially employed as a field service engineer by a computer manufacture, sales and service company with approx. fifty employees. All aspects of mini-computer installation and service leading to a design office job assisting in making the machine smaller. First use of CAD which led the company to take it on board as a design tool and eventually sell PC based CAD systems.
